Top 5 Pizza Slices

"I make myself pizza if it comes down to that drastic measurement." - Corey Haim

Thankfully, we need not resort to such "measurements". Check out this mouth-watering list of succulent slices freely available in our bustling metropolis.

1. Numero Uno
708 Davie Street
Numero Uno packs a lot of flavour into their diminutive space. Nothing beats it after sampling the Granville Street nightlife (although we have been known to pop into Fritz next door for the best poutine in town once in a while), and their unique array of topping combos make for a magical mystery tour through a jungle of flavour. $1.50/slice.

2. Pie R Squared
UBC Student Union Building
We try to stop by this little pizza shop when we're roving on campus, and gosh do we thank ourselves for it. Nice big slices with interesting toppings, this pizza shack earns its title as a Vancouver.com staff favourite. At $2.75 a piece, this definitely isn't the cheapest option in Vancouver's ruthless pizza-by-the-slice world, but looking at the "where your money goes" poster on the wall, their expenses are pretty high too. Support your talented struggling slicesmith.

3. DEATH MATCH! - Those two pizza places on Pender at Seymour - they balance each other out with different strengths. What kind of pizza do you want on Pender and Seymour today?

3a. Pizza on the left - These guys have come a long way. Their slices are unlike anything else we've tasted, with interesting toppings, tasty crust, and reasonable prices. Special slices of the day, with such succulent ingredients as artichoke, sour cream and bacon, your belly will giggle with glee all the way home. $1.25/slice.

3b. Pizza on the right - Hard core hungry people know where to look for a filling slice. Traditional toppings, always hot, fast and served with a smile, or at least a nod, this is the little pizza joint that really puts out. We love the crust.

4. Nat's New York Pizzeria
2684 West Broadway
1080 Denman Street
It's a real family affair at Nat's Pizzeria. As the story goes, cousins Nat and Franco Bastone traveled to New York to learn the family recipe that had been passed on for generations. The result was one awesome piece of pizza pie. Check it out.

5. Marcello Pizzeria

1404 Commercial Drive
Ok fine. So this isn't your typical stumble-in-at-2am-for-stomach-bomb kind of joint. But Marcello's pizza is incredible so we couldn't bare to leave it unmentioned. In fact, we are pretty sure you can't even buy pizza by the slice here, but who cares? Go to Marcello's to find out what you are really missing when you go for the cheap slice.
