See one of the 2006 PuSh Festival favourites, inspired by the life of 19th Century photographer Eadweard Muybridge, whose work in the studies of animal and human locomotion and instantaneous photography contributed to the invention of the cinema. The Electric Company Theatre blends physical theatre, creative storytelling and technology in Studies in Motion, which is being called “awe-inspiring” and “extraordinary” by critics. Ballet BC presents A Streetcar Named Desire at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre (Hamilton and Dunsmuir St.) until the 18th. A Streetcar Named Desire is a compelling drama based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Tennessee Williams. This full-length ballet stage production combines unique choreography, lighting, set and costume design with an original jazz score. The student matinee is today at 1:15 pm, with evening performances tonight, tomorrow and Friday at 8:00 pm and a tea matinee on the 18th at 2:00 pm. Former Bush frontman (they broke up in 2002) Gavin Rossdale seemed to completely disappear for a few years. During that time he formed the short-lived band Institute, wrote and recorded music in his home studio, and grew more and more frustrated with a career in limbo. Challenge yourself to the Grind in the City Stair Climb to benefit Muscular Dystrophy. The Grind is a 43 story ascent up the Harbour Center Tower (555 West Hastings St).
